The name Dugderan comes from the sounds that typify the celebration: "dug", the deep sound of the drums, and “der”, the crackling of fireworks. In this dance, the festival itself is depicted. It begins with the opening; an impressive fireworks show, followed by a procession filled with music, dance and festive joy where the vibrant atmosphere of the event comes alive.
