Ronggeng Nyentrik

The dances originated from classical performances that were exclusively held in palaces (kratons). Over time, these dances became increasingly accessible to the general public. They gradually lost their exclusive character and evolved into forms performed for entertainment as well. This evolution led to the creation of the Jaipong dance, now a popular and energetic style often featuring cheerful, rhythmic movements. The Ronggeng Nyentrik is one of these Jaipong dances. It is a sensual performance in which the dancer(s) is flirting with the audience. This dance possesses a playful and seductive quality, making it an enjoyable experience for both performers and spectators.
